One of my favorite things lately, has been to go to intimate concerts and take a sketch book. It started with John Nemeth and continued with Iron and Wine. Well, last night my wife and I spent the evening with friends having dinner and drinks. Everyone was such a good sport to let me drink and draw, to let me stare at them while they enjoyed their pizza and swigged their beers.
Figure drawing is just about my favorite thing to do. I totally end up in another dimension where I am completely oblivious to everything but the pencil on the paper. However, in figure drawing the model is paid to be completely still and of course naked. I cannot afford the rate my friends would charge to stay still let alone be completely nude. I do not have cheap friends. So, their constant movement makes things a bit more difficult but that is a wonderful challenge I enjoy.
