Day 31: Una Puerta Roja

This is the last drawing for a friend. No one else has sent me an email or contacted me in any other way to get their free original drawing. The last one is for someone I hold very near and dear, the love of my life, mi vida y mi corazón, Krystal.

I have made a drawing in the last 31 days! Now, who knows what the next 69 drawings will bring. However, I do foresee a technical issue in my future and while it is being resolved drawings will be produced but not posted. Keep checking, though. Once I am back online and running again there should be an influx of drawings.

A big thank you to those who are receiving drawings. You have helped me tremendously with your support.

Day 30: DNR (Do Not Re-gift)

This drawing is for my little sister-in-law, Meagan. It is in the manner of my friend and mentor R. Allen Jensen. I own the piece entitled DNR and Meagan covets it. She wants it and cannot have it so I made her own little piece of DNR. If I were ambitious enough, I would have photographed Jensen's piece for you to view but the links above will have to suffice.

Day 29: Casita

Have I mentioned how hard it is to do the drawings over the weekend. It seems to me that actually having to get up in the morning and come to work makes things easier.
I learned today that I function better when my day is regimented. Add something extra to my daily routine and things get off kilter. Today for instance, the wife and I left the house late because she was speaking to the doctor on the phone and I forgot the dog leash. Believe you me, this is not the first time I've forgotten it so I have a backup leash at work.
Anyway, there was a time when thing were much simpler. This is for my sweet, sweet friend Calla who lives in a far, far away land.

Day 27: Hierbas

I find myself dreaming of weeds. For Serena...

Day 26: Hay una Venida Verde de Cielo

Lesson, either clean your watercolor tray or don't paint in the dark.
For Julie, siempre hay una venida.

Day 25: Tom, Tome (este dibujo)

This drawing for Tom is in the same vein as yesterday's, El Hechizado. I am nearing the end of my list of friends who requested drawings. And now, I am starting to think of concepts to keep the drawings going. One notion is to repeat the same idea of a drawing over and over again such as yesterday's and today's drawing. We will see.

If you have suggestions as to what you would like to see from the drawings or if you would like to get on the list for a free drawing just leave a comment.

Day 24: Tenga Cuidado con el Maldecido

For my good, good (not evil) friend Ian. He gave me the word El Hechizado. I am giving him this drawing.

Day 23: Un Barril Lleno

I have now started to draw things that are growing in my mind. I must weed them out one by one. First it was los pájaros. Now it is el jardín.
Un fin de la semana en la yarda para mí. Y un dibujo para Heather.

Day 22: Siempre He Soñado de Volar

I have started to explore texture with my watercolors. I want to see what they can do for each other, if anything.

For another superfriend from college, Jim. One of the nicest people you could ever meet.

Day 21: Nido de Pájaro

Art certainly does imitate life. I am currently in battle with the robins. They insist on moving in and even though I have raised the rents beyond their means, I keep having to evict them. I submit this drawing as an offering to the avian higher beings to please leave my deck alone. I suppose it is Karma from when Pugnacious and I came across a robin's egg and Pugnacious decided to crush it and eat it.

This is for Debbie, whom from what I gather, has done a bit of nesting herself in the recent past.

Day 20: Las Botas Rojas de la Vaquera

Day 19: Los Flores

This drawing I actually worked on for the past three days. Geez, I keep making and breaking rules. For Jenny, who is an artist and a mother. Happy Mother's Day Jenny!

Day 18: Dos Elefantes

I find it more difficult to create something for friends who are artists themselves especially when it is someone's work that I can appreciate such as my friend Jason. Jason and I went to college together and took almost all the same classes except I think he was a year ahead of me. Any way I have always admired his work and valued his opinion.

Day 17: La Dalia Azul

As promised a very special artwork for my friend Stephanie. Stephanie is a very talented designer and printer. She has a brilliant letterpress company making beautiful cards, stationary, and custom invitations, Dahlia Press. Please check out her blog and Etsy site.

I find Stephanie's enthusiasm and passion very inspiring so I hope she enjoys her drawing.

Day 16: Gee-Zus the Mexican Boy!

I had a fantastic date with my wife last night. We went to the Triple Door for dinner, drinks and Iron & Wine. Iron & Wine is a indy/folk band that really is a man named Samuel Beam. If you haven't heard his music definitely check it out. And, if you haven't been to the Triple Door, go. We were seated 10 feet from the stage and Sam Beam played a solo acoustic set. It was so intimate, it was like sitting in his living room. I took my sketch pad because I had to do a drawing for the day but also I had so much fun drawing my friend John Nemeth at his show, I really wanted to do it again. Yesterday's drawing was to be for my friend Stephanie but I have something else special planned. So, a slight break from drawings for friends. Let me introduce to you Samuel Beam..

My lovely wife is hosting a baby shower for one of her cousins this summer and she has elicited me to help with her invitation. The following two color block print was approved and produced for the invitation. Que linda!

Day 15: La Máquina no es Buena

Ask and you shall receive, Michelle. Michelle owns and operates a gallery/studio art space in the wonderful land of Bellingham, WA called Jinx Art Space. She is a wonderful person who does a spectacular thing and finds the time to make some great art. Right, Michelle? Anyways, stop in, say hello and check out the arts.
Other word bubbles considered for use...
"Sandra Bullock is a Robot."
"Do the maquinaria!"
"Next stop world domination!"

Day 14: J is for Joe!

I realized I am having not only a hard time completing the drawings but also writing about them.
This drawing for mi amigo Joe was a bit difficult , one: I was trying to finish other projects and, two: I started to think, what would Joe like a drawing of? His beautiful wife, his playful and jumpy pooch. Not really, here is a chair for Joe.

Day 13: Sketchy-Sketch

A Sketch for Eugene. I went with a hammer instead of an axe. I decided to pull out some of my old tricks from my tool belt for this one.

Day 12: Foo-ey!

Nearly forgot to post yesterday's drawings. Here is Mindy in Portland's drawing. I believe Mindy may be more of a cat type person but everyone can use a little Foo in their lives.

Day 11: Basta!

For my good friend Tanya Jo.
